Tom's Magic wins the Black Gold Stakes at the Fair Grounds on March 1, 2025
ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Woodbine has released an updated list of 51 Canadian-bred 3-year-olds who are eligible for the 2025 Canadian Triple Crown, along with the 36 Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies nominated to the 2025 Woodbine Oaks.
The top three finishers from last Sunday’s Queenston Stakes at Woodbine – Notorious Gangster, Regal Guest, and Dewolf – are all nominated to the Triple Crown. The stakes-winning turf miler Tom’s Magic is another high-profile nominee.
Copper Ghost and Royal Entry were both supplemented to the Triple Crown after they were not originally nominated by the initial deadline of April 2. Copper Ghost is coming off a runner-up placing in a June 1 maiden special weight event going 1 1/16 miles at Woodbine.The 166th running of the $1 million King’s Plate is the opening leg of the Canadian Triple Crown. The prestigious 1 1/4-mile Tapeta tilt is scheduled for Aug. 16 at Woodbine. The middle race, the $400,000 Prince of Wales, goes on the dirt over 1 3/16 miles at Fort Erie Sept. 9. The $400,000 Breeders’ completes the series and will be contested at 1 1/2 miles over Woodbine’s inner turf Sept. 28.
Among the nominees to the 70th running of the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks on July 20 are stakes winners Winterberry, Shifty, and Souper Supreme, along with the Kentucky-based Love and Poetry. Miss Pierre and Reveler’s Row were supplemented to the 1 1/8-mile Tapeta route.
